Get Started in 5 Minutes

This quick start guide will have you reading and learning with MyLang Reader in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Access MyLang Reader

Visit www.mylangreader.com in your web browser. The application works on most browsers:
  • Desktop: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
  • Mobile: iOS Safari or Chrome, Android Chrome
  • A Native iOS app version is in development and will hopefully be on the Apple App Store in 2026.

Step 2: Set Your Languages

  • Native Language: Your first language (what you’re fluent in)
  • Target Language: The language you want to learn

Step 3a: Import Your First Content

Once you’re in the reader, click the + Import button and choose:
  1. Click “Import from URL”
  2. Paste any news article URL. Some paywalled sites may not work, in which case you could copy and paste text directly instead.
  3. Click “Start Processing”

Step 3b: Importing from Feed

Feed allows you to enter any RSS URL for news articles and access them directly in MyLang Reader. Simply add sources via “Manage Sources” in the top right of the Feed page. You may also add Youtube channels to your feed, and access videos from those channels for direct imports.

The Star icon on the right will favourite any item in feed for saving to your favourites lists for later. Otherwise items will update automatically as RSS and Youtube feeds update by their creators!

Step 4: Start Reading, Watching, Listening and Learning!

Once your content is imported, you’ll see it in the reader interface:

Step 5: Practice Makes Perfect!!!

After reading, practice your vocabulary:
  1. Go to the Practice section (card icon in navigation)

  3. Review flashcards for words you’ve added to your vocabulary list.
  4. Rate each card based on how well you knew it
The spaced repetition system will automatically schedule reviews based on your performance.
