Get Started in 5 Minutes
This quick start guide will have you reading and learning with MyLang Reader in just a few minutes.Before you begin: You can use MyLang Reader without an account, but creating one lets you save your progress, vocabulary, and content across devices.
Step 1: Access MyLang Reader
Visit www.mylangreader.com in your web browser. The application works on:- Desktop: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge
- Mobile: iOS Safari, Android Chrome
- Tablet: All major browsers
Step 2: Choose Your Path
When you first open MyLang Reader, you have several options:Start Reading Immediately
Click “Continue as Guest” to start using the reader without creating an account
Create Account
Click “Sign Up” to save your progress and access all features
Step 3: Set Your Languages (Optional)
If you create an account or continue as a guest, you’ll be prompted to set:- Native Language: Your first language (what you’re fluent in)
- Target Language: The language you want to learn
You can skip this step and set languages later, or change them anytime in your account settings.
Step 4: Import Your First Content
Once you’re in the reader, click the + Import button (usually a floating action button) and choose:- News Article
- Upload File
- YouTube Video
- Plain Text
- Click “Import from URL”
- Paste any news article URL
- Click “Import”
- Wait for processing (usually 10-30 seconds)
Step 5: Start Reading and Learning
Once your content is imported, you’ll see it in the reader interface:Basic Reading Features
- Click any word to see translation and definition
- Words are color-coded by familiarity:
- 🔴 Red: Unknown/Difficult
- 🟡 Yellow: Studying
- 🟢 Green: Known
- Blue: New words (not yet categorized)
Mark Word Familiarity
When you click a word, you’ll see options to mark it as:- Learning: You’re studying this word
- Known: You know this word well
- Difficult: This word is challenging for you
Basic Controls
- Font size: Adjust text size with + and - buttons
- Translation mode: Toggle to see translated text
- Dual mode: View original and translation side by side (Premium)
Step 6: Practice What You’ve Learned
After reading, practice your vocabulary:- Go to the Practice section (card icon in navigation)
- Click “Start Mixed Session”
- Review flashcards for words you’ve encountered
- Rate each card based on how well you knew it
The spaced repetition system will automatically schedule reviews based on your performance.

- Videos: YouTube URLs with subtitles
- Text: Direct copy and paste

MyLang Reader uses advanced AI translation services. While generally accurate, always cross-reference important translations with dictionaries or native speakers.

MyLang Reader requires an internet connection for importing content and translations. However, previously loaded content can be viewed offline (limited functionality).
